A delegation of volunteers from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) visited Sumic IT Solutions headquarters in Kampala for a multi-day knowledge exchange program. The visit focused on software development best practices, project management methodologies, and lessons from Japan's technology sector that are applicable to Uganda's growing tech ecosystem.
During the visit, the JICA volunteers facilitated workshops on agile development, quality assurance, and user experience design. Sumic's team shared their experience building digital solutions for African markets — including the unique challenges of low-bandwidth environments, informal payment systems, and multilingual user bases.
"The exchange was mutually enriching," said a Sumic senior developer. "We learned a great deal about discipline and precision from our Japanese colleagues, and they were genuinely impressed by the creativity and resourcefulness of our team."
This visit is part of Sumic's ongoing collaboration with JICA and reinforces the organization's commitment to building bridges between Africa and Japan through technology and human capital development.
