Sumic IT Solutions Ltd participated in the Services Export Coaching Programme under the LIFTED Project, held from 24–26 August 2026.
The three-day programme provided an opportunity for businesses to strengthen their understanding of what it takes to enter and compete in international markets, with a particular focus on services exports.
Strengthening Services Export Readiness
Throughout the programme, participants explored several important aspects of international business and services exports, including:
Export readiness assessment
Identifying and evaluating target markets
Market entry strategies
Developing a Services Export Strategy
Understanding challenges associated with exporting services
Positioning services for international customers
One of the key lessons from the programme was the importance of having a clear and well-informed strategy when entering new markets.
A strong service offering is only one part of international expansion. Businesses also need to understand their target markets, identify the right customers, meet relevant requirements, determine appropriate market-entry approaches, and develop strategies that support sustainable growth.
Learning Through Collaboration
The programme also provided an opportunity to interact with other businesses, exchange ideas, and learn from the experiences of entrepreneurs and companies exploring international markets.
These interactions offered valuable perspectives on the opportunities and challenges businesses face when expanding beyond their domestic markets.
Applying the Lessons at Sumic
The knowledge gained from the programme will contribute to Sumic IT Solutions' ongoing efforts to explore opportunities beyond Uganda and strengthen its approach to international services delivery and export development.
We extend our appreciation to the East African Business Council (EABC) and the LIFTED Project for organizing the programme and creating opportunities for businesses to build their capacity in services exports.
As Sumic continues its international growth journey, the insights gained through programmes such as this will help strengthen our readiness to serve customers and build partnerships in international markets.
